Book Review & Giveaway: The Gentleman's Deception

I am so excited to be part of the blog tour for Karen Tuft's new regency romance, The Gentleman's Deception. This was a quirky and fun romance with a sigh-worthy ending.

Ruby Chadwick is a well-known and much sought after actress and she is ready to go back to her true identity---Lavinia Fernley. But her carefully planned escape goes wrong when her friends don't meet her at the inn and she's about to be recognized. Throwing herself into the arms of a man sitting alone at a table begins a tale full of twists and turns and laugh out loud moments.

Lucas is a true hero, returning to his family and his former lady love who has now married his brother. When Lavinia drops into his lap, they end up as traveling companions (with her friends who are so fun and memorable!) and he introduces her to his family as his betrothed. That little white lie starts a chain reaction with Lucas's family when they start to get to know her. There are so many sweet moments as Lavinia uses her acting skills at first, but then slowly lets down her guard. Lucas and Lavinia truly have a tender romance, but as a reader, you know when the secret comes out, everything they've built may crumble. Will they fight for the love they've found? I know I couldn't wait to read the end to find out!

I really enjoyed this one and if you like sweet romance this one should be at the top of your Christmas list!

Renowned actress Ruby Chadwick, The Darling of Drury Lane, has long planned and prepared for her final performance. With exceptional beauty comes the unwanted attention of men, and after years of fending off odious suitors, Ruby is ready to leave it all behind in favor of a quiet life. The first step is to reclaim a piece of her past: her true identity as Lavinia Fernley. But leaving town unnoticed proves impossible, and in one desperate moment, she embarks on the greatest act of her life when she throws herself into the arms of a stranger to avoid recognition.

Lucas Jennings is shocked to find the stunning redhead in his arms, but something moves him to play along with her ruse when she calls him her husband. This charade marks the start of an unpredictable journey as he escorts the lovely Lavinia and her traveling companions to Primrose Farm, far from the glaring lights of London. Soon, the tables are turned when Lucas introduces Lavinia to his family—as his fiancĂ©e. Before long, their mutual deception begins to feel all too real. But when the truth of her past is revealed, will Lavinia’s dream of a happy ending slip through her fingers?
